And Just Like That, I’m a Married Woman!

And Just Like That, I’m a Married Woman!

I can hardly believe it. All of those months of planning and the day has come and gone. It was incredible. I honestly wish I could do it all over again. I’m so glad I’m not one of those people who regretted having a wedding. I know the planning can be a bit overwhelming at times but it’s completely worth it. I opted for a smaller wedding. About 75 people, in the end after the inevitable no shows (which is a whole other blog all on it’s own!) – it was perfectly intimate but big enough to have a great party. In previous blogs I sang the praises of my wedding planner and I still am! Sava at Two Be Wed was amazing. I could not imagine trying to do this without her. She was remarkable. Nothing phased her. When people were rude or disrespectful, she handled it with a smile. She made every single element of the ceremony and reception more than we could have ever dreamed. Sava treated me and Chris, as well as my family, as if we were her family. Taking such good care of us. If you’re in Houston, don’t even bother putting together your […]

Hen Do vs Bachelorette Party – Who does it better?

Hen Do vs Bachelorette Party – Who does it better?

I am fortunate to have some of the most incredible friends ever on both sides of the pond. Before Hurricane Harvey happened and I was still “home” in the UK, my closest friends in the UK threw me an amazing Hen Do party! We started the night pretty refined at the Mandarin Oriental for cocktails, then made our way to dinner. This was quite the experience! We actually went to a comedy burlesque show. If you want to laugh and do something out of the ordinary, I highly recommend this. If you’re shy and don’t like getting on stage, this isn’t for you. It’s a small room and the chances of you ended up on stage with the Master of Ceremonies is about 100%! From there we made our way to a cheesy club where we danced the night away! But we weren’t finished. Our feet couldn’t deal with walking (or it was probably just mine) so we jumped in a few Tuk Tuk’s and had them take us to the first pizza place we could find. I mean, what’s a night out without two dinners! Check out some of the pictures… Next we have the Bachelorette Party. Like many […]

Let Them Eat Cake!

Let Them Eat Cake!

Ok, things are getting fun with this wedding planning stuff! The other day we picked out linens, which you wouldn’t think would be that exciting but it suddenly makes things feel very real. Oddly, I almost cried seeing it all set up… I didn’t even cry when I tried on my dress! So Chris and I made our way to Spring, Texas to a place called Heather’s Peace of Cake. We took the scenic route for Chris to scope out some photoshoot locations for his business and we just had to get a shot of me in front of this little wall. After all, I matched it! Alright, moving on to the good stuff! We made it to Heather’s and they had our cakes all ready for us to try! There, waiting for us in all of the sugary glory was a traditional wedding cake, Irish Cream cake, German Chocolate and Red Velvet. Oh. My. Word! It was so good! Chris and I pretty much went straight into sugar comas after that. In the end we ended up choosing the traditional wedding cake, red velvet and white chocolate with a raspberry filling. Definitely not on the pre-wedding meal plan but […]

Invitations and Calligraphy, is it worth it?

Invitations and Calligraphy, is it worth it?

I have done a complete 180° from when I started planning my wedding until now. Originally I planned on just ordering our invitations from an online site for as cheap as possible but then I met my wedding planner and she introduced me to Half Moon Lettering in Houston, TX. So the question is, how important are these details? I’ve concluded, for me, very important. It sets the theme of your wedding, in a sense it becomes your brand for not only the wedding but for everything wedding related afterwards. The invitations tell the guests exactly what kind of wedding they are about to attend. So from the moment they open the invitation to when they walk into the reception, there is a consistent flow. I haven’t picked out all of my little details and invitations yet but take a look at some that are in the running! What are some little things you splurged on for your wedding? I can hardly believe it, in 76 days I’ll be married! Which probably means I should actually start planning this shindig. Most of the people I know started planning their weddings from the minute they got engaged. Me on the other hand… I’m waiting until 2 months before. Oops! Life has just been too hectic but thanks to the wedding planner I have, things are starting to come together! So get ready for a lot of wedding blogs! I’ll tell you guys about what I’m doing to prepare and some of the things I have in mind for our big day! And I would love to hear about your experiences too – whether you are already married, or like me you are planning your big day! Maybe some of your ideas will prove really helpful as I build towards mine (and feel free to steal some of my inspirations for your day too!) I was planning on going light on flowers but after meeting with a florist, that totally changed! Check out some of the gorgeous floral looks that inspired me! SaveSave SaveSave

Bloody Mary Anyone?

Bloody Mary Anyone?

So I have a new obsession. Personally I used to hate these but have recently found a new appreciation for one of the strangest drinks there is, the Bloody Mary! I don’t know what it is lately but I just can’t get enough of them. I can happily even drink them even without the vodka. I’ve recently gone on a search for the best pre-made mix and I’ve found a winner. I love this so much that I brought a bottle  to the UK while I’m here working. The winner, hands down, is Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix  Unfortunately Zing Zang can only be purchased in North America but I have a solution for all of you other folk, keep reading! I like to think that I’m being healthy as well because Bloody Mary’s have lots of good things in them as well (not necessarily the american style ones topped with burgers and such). According to Spoon University, tomatoes contain the antioxidant lycopene, which is supposed to lower the risk of disease and it’s also great for adding a bit of protection to your skin. It helps aid in digestion and it’s a great hangover cure thanks to the combo of acidic […]

I said “Yes!”

I had long accepted my role as “the single girl” over the last few years (and when I say few… I mean a lot!) In fact, I quite liked it to be honest. I was really good at distracting myself with my career and putting other things first so it was rare that I felt lonely, even with all of the travelling I do! In a very unexpected turn of events, someone came into my life and completely shook it up, but in a good way. For the first time, in a long time, I was pursued by someone. Ladies, you know how it is, sometimes it feels like we are doing all the chasing when in actuality we just want someone to chase us. Well that happened for me! Now, months and months down the line, I’m engaged! The forever single girl is single no more. I’m absolutely loving every minute of this process as well. So get ready for lots of wedding posts! I’m having a crazy short engagement and between releasing an album, doing festivals in the UK and a tour this Autumn, I’m also planning a December 2017 wedding!?! I’m not sure I thought things through […]

New Year, New You?

New Year, New You?

It’s that time of year again. Time to make those resolutions! Personally, I’ve never been a fan of all of that. I’m more of an “improve yourself all year long” kind of girl… With the body positive/acceptance movement in full force I think we forget just how important taking care of our bodies actually is. Does that mean you need to be skinny? Of course not, but it does mean that you should take pride in your body and health no matter what size you are. Below are some great workout tips from one of my favorite personal trainers and my actual personal trainer, Eric Bartee, as well as a low carb recipe that is sure to be a hit at the dinner table! I have recently gone low carb and I thought this was going to be difficult, but I’ve come to find that I should have done it years ago! My latest obsession is Danielle Walker. For Christmas I bought myself her book, Danielle Walker’s Against All Grain: Meals Made Simple. I wouldn’t say it’s as easy as “normal” cooking but it sure tastes just as good! This Paleo Chicken Tikka Masala is a staple in my recipe […]
