Anyone who knows me knows that I love my lash extensions! It’s part of my look. I’ve always loved the look they give and waking up already looking fabulous is a major plus. I think I’ve had them off and on for about 10 years now, BEFORE lash extensions were even a thing. Now days you can go just about anywhere and get them done, which I wouldn’t necessarily recommend, do your research before letting someone glue something to your lashes! I’ve experienced some nightmares!
I used an amazing lash artist in London named Emily at Angel Beauty. She is hands down, one of the best lash artists there is! Because of this, when I’m home in Houston it’s hard to find anyone that matches her standards.
Now that I’m going to be home in Houston for a bit, I knew that keeping up with the lash extensions wasn’t going to be something that I could do. It is definitely a luxury and when I’m performing it’s something that I can justify. When I’m home, I’m not as active on the performance side of things. So what are my options? Strip lashes? No! Au Naturel? If I have to.
After doing some research, I saw that my local lash studio, ETS Lash Studio, started doing lash lifts. I’ve been hearing great things about this, so I figured I should give it a shot. This process is like a perm for your lashes. For anyone who has straight lashes, you’ll love this. I actually found this to be a very relaxing experience. They start with cleansing your lashes and eye lids to prep them for the lift. During the process they use a little bar that is glued (it’s safe for skin) to your lid. This bar is what hold the lashes in the curl position during the lift. The only slightly uncomfortable part was when the lash artist added the lift solution. There was a slight sting but it was gone in about 10 seconds so nothing too bad. After a few minutes of letting the solution set, it was time to remove the bar and clean off the solution. Having had lash extensions off and on for 10 years now, I have always hated how I looked without lashes. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. It was nothing like how I look with the extensions but it was much better to see myself with darker (the artist also did a tint), curlier lashes. I would highly recommend doing this if you want to give your lashes a break from extensions or if you’ve never had extensions and have naturally full, long but straight lashes. This will give you a feel of having extensions. The lift last anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks, depending how much you cleanse your face.

So what do I prefer? Lash extensions for sure but this will be a nice substitute until I get back to London to my girl Emily!
